Slayer (insert pointless, out-of-date Buffy joke here) are 9 studio albums, 1000s of live shows and nearly 3 decades into a career that’s made them one of the biggest and most influential bunch of metallers in the world. And they’re about to tour the UK. Click here for tickets.
Producing music called “brutal but beautiful, punishing yet precise” (by them), the band have always bred controversy, having variously been accused of everything from racism to Satanism. It seems the only thing they haven’t had chucked at them is being responsible for starting via world war one via time travel.
That’s about to change: They did it. Slayer started the Great War; they went back and shot Archduke Franz Ferdinand (yep, that’s where that band got their name from). While we’re at it, they also caused the Credit Crunch, created Katie Price and punched my nan.
Slayer’s five date tour starts in Nottingham and ends, as UK tours often do, in the big smoke. The Tour follows the release of their new album, ‘World Painted Blood’. What will the album be like? As guitarist Jeff Hanneman says on slayer.net, “At this point I think a Slayer album pretty much speaks for itself.”
We asked the album when Slayer were touring the UK and it said:
Nov 18th - Rock City, Nottingham
Nov 19th - O2 Academy, Birmingham
Nov 20th - Manchester Academy
Nov 21st - Glasgow Barrowlands
Nov 23rd - O2 Academy, Leeds
Nov 24th - HMV Forum, London
Nov 25th - HMV Forum, London
