Multi-award nominees Florence and The Machine have announced that they will be hitting the road later this year for a springtime jaunt around the UK and Ireland.
The 2010 ‘Cosmic Love tour’ will kick off in May and it will be the band’s biggest tour to date playing eleven dates around the UK and Dublin. Hitting the road in Ireland, starting with a two-night stint at Dublin’s Olympia Theatre the band will also visit Edinburgh Coal Exchange, Blackpool Empress Ballroom and Wolverhampton Civic Hall. The tour will finish off with a three-night show at the HMV Hammersmith Apollo in London.
700,000 albums, three Brit nominations, three Meteor Ireland Music Award nominations, a number one debut album and many sold out shows since their arrival on the music scene, Florence and her mighty machine are looking on target to smash their brilliant 2009 achievements already, in 2010.
A recent trip to the studio earlier in the year, Florence has now set off to tour the other side of the world. A visit to Australia then Japan, and then back to Europe will ensure that she is not far away for her performance of ‘You Got The Dirtee Love’ with Dizzee Rascal at the forthcoming Brit awards in London on February 16th, where incidentally, she is nominated for Best Female, Best Album and Breakthrough Artist. The star will also be putting in a live performance at this year’s Meteor Ireland Music Awards where the band are nominated for Best International Band, Best International Album and Best International Live Performance.
With some American shows now in the pipeline, Miami Winter Music Conference and Coachella Festival also confirmed, it’s a busy few months for Florence and Co. The release of new single ‘Dog Days Are Over’ is expected in March, the Cosmic Love tour looks to be a perfect end to an outstanding first half of the year for Florence and The Machine.
