Ibiza Rocks turns five this summer and boy has this baby grown up! The line up speaks volumes, with The Prodigy, Kele, Florence and the Machine, The Courteeners, Dizzee Rascal, Delphic, Calvin Harris, The Kooks, Pendulum and Example already booked for the summer long celebration.
Taking place every Tuesday from 08 June to 14 September at the Ibiza Rocks Hotel, it’s going to be one hell of a party, bursting with the biggest bands, DJ’s and best breakthrough talent, for 15 weeks straight.
Back in early 2005, Ibiza Rocks was born and the baby of the Balearics quite literally represented the birth of new life in Ibiza and enticed a new generation to the island. Bye bye to ageing superstar DJ’s, bloated VIP areas, inflated prices, foam parties and bad taste booze cruises. Hello to Ibiza Rocks’ groundbreaking series of live music events and an innovative youth brand totally in tune with their hungry, young audience. From intimate, open-air gigs with some of the worlds best bands including Arctic Monkeys, to the launch of the destination concept Ibiza Rocks Hotel in 2008 with The Enemy, to the opening of a new hotel in Mallorca this year and the most sensational gig line up to date, the Ibiza Rocks brand knows no boundaries. Ibiza Rocks - unrivalled, unstoppable and unmissable!
Ibiza Rocks kicks off on Tuesday 08 June with some very special surprise guests at the Ibiza Rocks Hotel, the only hotel to offer an auditorium style atmosphere and private viewing balconies off the bedrooms. June will also see one of the UK’s best live bands and festival favourities, The Courteeners (22) swing through the hotel’s rock ‘n’ roll doors and storm the open-air stage.
Liam Fray, The Courteeners said: "We can’t wait to get back out there. People go to Ibiza for one thing and that’s to have a f*cking good time. Let’s face it, we definitely fit the criteria."
Back by popular demand in July are ‘Dance Wiv Me’ collaborators, Scottish chart-topper Calvin Harris (06) and BRIT Award winner for Male Solo Artist, Dizzee Rascal (27). Both have played stand out sets at Ibiza Rocks in the past, but this year they will make history as two of the acts to play both Mallorca Rocks and Ibiza Rocks back to back; two islands, for two amazing live gigs within two days. Calvin will be joined at both gigs by one of the best breakthrough artists of 2010, Example.
Dizzee Rascal said: "Can't wait to play Ibiza Rocks again this year. It was one of my best shows of 2009. It went off big time."
Every night at the Ibiza Rocks Hotel is party night and every Tuesday night in Ibiza belongs to Ibiza Rocks, but Tuesday 20 July will see some serious sparks flying. For the 5th birthday party, Ibiza’s premier live music promoters have pulled out all the stops to pull in the original Firestarters - The Prodigy! Yes, the pioneers of Ibiza’s live music scene will celebrate with the pioneers of the electronic dance music scene. With both parties making their name from mixing up dance and rock and delivering ‘Music For the Jilted Generation’, this is the perfect Ibiza Rocks 5th Birthday party partnership. With a vision of creating a night for ‘dance kids who want to rock and rock kids who want to dance’ Ibiza Rocks was conceived with this very moment in mind. Happy Birthday indeed. It’s going to be emotional.
The third act to play both venues is multi-million selling band The Kooks who will make a welcome return to Ibiza Rocks in August (10), having already launched the brand new Mallorca Rocks Hotel on 06 June with Zane Lowe.
In one of the coolest billings of the hottest summer line up, Ibiza Rocks is proud to announce that Kele Okereke from Bloc Party will perform one of his first ever live solo shows as part of his side project. Taking place at the Ibiza Rocks Hotel in August (31), Kele will be supported by one of the biggest breakthrough bands of the year, Delphic. Having smashed into the Top 10 with debut album ‘Acolyte’ these boys and their Balearic sound is a match made in heaven for the White Isle.
Following her stunning debut onto the Ibiza Rocks stage as part of Radio 1’s Ibiza Weekend last year, August will see the return of Best British Album BRIT Award winner Florence and the Machine for her first headline show (24).
Pendulum will be back with their banging beats and electric live show in September (7). They are sure to be on a high as they fly in straight from Mallorca, where they will have headlined the Mallorca Rocks closing party the night before. September will see another set of very special guests play live under the stars before the Ibiza Rocks 2010 season comes to close on 14 September.
Andy McKay, Promoter, Ibiza Rocks said: "To have a line up like this is the best birthday present we could ever ask for. The Prodigy should be a very special night for the whole island. The line up keeps getting stronger and the Ibiza Rocks brand keeps getting bigger, but our core values have remained the same - great live entertainment at great value. Our weekly parties are epic, crammed with top talent and we keep thinking of new ideas to add value to someone’s night out or holiday. We keep delivering and thankfully the bands and the crowds keep coming."
