Florence Not Worried About Second Album Syndrome

Florence Welsh, of the Machine fame, has insisted that she isn’t worried about living up to the success of her first record ‘Lungs’.

The singer has promised that the music will be different to her debut because she’s got “more ground to cover”. Florence said “the new stuff I’d call kind of dancy, but it’s dark as well. The second feels like a release – I’ve got new ground to cover – whereas the first was scary”.

She continued: “It needs to be more contained. With the first album, I was excited that people wanted to work with me, so I worked with as many people as possible just to see what I could come up with. It ended up like a patchwork”.

With all this simplifying in both song-writing and production, the fiery haired singer remains hopeful that her new work will be as successful as the previous, adding “the next year is just me moving on and creating something new, a clean slate to do whatever you want – so what isn’t there to like about that?”.

Florence and the Machine are currently on a huge tour across Europe and the U.S, but they will be gracing London’s shores in May for three dates at the Hammersmith Apollo. So if you fancy seeing her……buy some tickets or something.
