Robbie Williams Has Hand in ‘Three Lions’ Re-release

Wednesday, 24 March 2010 Written by Matt Hamm

Pop legend turned weirdo, Robbie Williams has re-recorded ‘Three Lions’ ahead of the World Cup in South Africa.

Ian Broudie, of Lightning Seeds fame, who recorded the original song with David Baddiel and Frank Skinner in 1996 for the Euro Championships, is releasing an updated version this summer in time for South Africa’s World Cup Finals.

Williams is understood to have got involved after meeting singer Broudie at a recording studio in West London. The ex-Take That man’s contribution was welcomed with loving arms by his management, who told The Sun Williams was “happy to be involved”.

No surprises there then as we imagine that his management wouldn’t mind the star making a bit of extra cash off the back of this summer’s biggest event, especially after his latest album didn’t exactly set the world alight.

The Stereoboard towers for one can’t wait to see the video for the re-release…if only to scratch our eyes out after due to the sheer shocking shiteness of it all.
