The Divine Comedy have announced their return to the music world with the preview of tracks from their new album at two intimate venues this May.
The two shows will take place at Dublin’s Sugar Club on 7th May and London’s Tabernacle on 12th May.
Neil Hannon’s band, The Divine Comedy, has been through many changes of style and line-up since their formation in 1989. Hailing from Northern Ireland, the band’s breakthrough came in 1995 when Neil wrote the theme tune to the hit TV comedy ‘Father Ted’ and Chris Evans played their new track ‘Something For The Weekend’, on his breakfast radio show.
With the song becoming an instant hit, as well as their next two singles ‘Becoming More Like Alfie’ and ‘The Frog Princess’, since then The Divine Comedy have gone from strength to strength, known for their superb indie/folk tinged pop songs and innovative live performances.
Now returning to the music scene with a new record, their 10th studio album and first since the release of ‘Victory For The Comic Muse’ in 2006, The Divine Comedy have announced two intimate shows to preview material featured on “Bang Goes The Knighthood”, which is due for release on 31st May this year.
The Divine Comedy will play the following UK and Ireland dates:
