Legends of the British New Wave scene, Blondie, have announced three new UK shows, all to take place at intimate venues in June this summer.
The story of Blondie is an unusual one with lead singer Debbie Harry being in her 30’s by the time the band were signed. Her unique, cool street-wise personality wasn’t faked but formed through the former Playboy bunny’s life experiences.
Adding the glamour to the new wave scene, Blondie experienced a string of hits turning them into icons of the 80’s music era. Reforming in the late 1990’s with their comeback single ‘Maria’, the band smashed into the charts and hit the Number One spot to confirm a monumental revival.
Blondie’s summer schedule seems to be filling up fast with their special performance at Scottish Highland festival ‘Rockness’ already confirmed, as well as shows at Westonbirt Arboretum and Kenwood House. Now the New Wave legends have now announced three additional UK dates for June where they will present a combination of classic hits and new music from their upcoming album, first in six years, ‘Panic of Girls’.
Speaking about the new album, Debbie Harry had this to say: “We are really proud with the body of work on Panic of Girls. The album is a combination of numerous musical styles. We have been in the studio for a long time now so we are excited to get out on the road and debut the new songs live for our fans."
Blondie will play the following UK dates:
June 2010
15th O2 Academy, Newcastle
16th Manchester Apollo
28th Wolverhampton Civic Hall
Already confirmed shows:
13th Rockness Festival
20th Westonbirt Arboretum, Westonbirt
26th Kenwood House, London
