Rapper turned soul singer Ben Drew, or plan ‘Plan B’ as otherwise known, has revealed a lengthy string of UK dates for October.
Having just released his new soul album ‘The Defamation Of Strickland Banks’, Plan B will play 14 dates across the length and breadth of the country later this year in the Autumn.
Scoring a UK Number One on the Album Chart only yesterday, his latest record and second studio offering sees Plan B focussing more solely on his singing abilities, rather than rapping (although the album does still contain a few rap verses in some of the songs).
Hailing from Forest Gate in London, Drew emerged onto the music scene in 2006 with his critically-acclaimed debut album ‘Who Needs Actions When You Got Words’. His first top ten single was as the featured artist on the song “End Credits” by Chase & Status. Lately Plan B has been dubbed as “The British Eminem”, or “Eminem meets Damien Rice” with the rapper’s unique sound created by acoustic guitar and lyrics involving drugs, rape, murder and underage sex.
A succesful actor also, Drew has had supporting roles in British films ‘Adulthood’ and ‘Harry Brown’. He has also directed and starred in his own film of the same name of new album ‘The Defamation Of Strickland Banks’ which is set for release sometime this year.
On the 26th March, the singer/rapper supported ex-Oasis guitar man Noel Gallagher at the second of his solo gigs at The Royal Albert Hall.
