The Coral have announced details of their forthcoming album ‘Butterfly House’ along with a short UK tour for July 2010.
Hailing from Liverpool, The Coral hit the scene in 2001 and almost immediately marked themselves out as mavericks. The band have since gone on to consolidate their critical and commercial acclaim with five Top 10 albums and a slew of hit singles to boot.
The band’s last album ‘Singles Collection’ followed what was their last studio album ‘Roots & Echoes’ in 2007 which The Observer Review described as “A gem of a record” whilst a critic at Q magazine was moved to say “James Skelly is one of the finest writers , and voices in British music today”.
‘Butterfly House’ is the hotly anticipated album which has been talked about and mooted since the band’s studio sessions at the latter end of 2009 and will be released on 12th July and their first since the (amicable) departure of Bill Ryder-Jones. It will be pre-empted by the single ‘1000 Years’ on 5th July.
Recorded in both London and Liverpool with John Leckie at the production controls, ‘Butterfly House’ and ‘1000 Years’ will be released through the Deltasonic label.
Meanwhile the following live shows have been confirmed with special guest support on all dates from Cherry Ghost.
July:
12th July - Birmingham, Alexandra Theatre
14th July - London, O2 Shepherd’s Bush Empire
15th July - Liverpool, Philharmonic
17th July - Manchester, Salford Lowry
19th July - Gateshead, Sage
