Shakey-headed singer, songwriter David Gray has unveiled details of three intimate UK shows this summer in July.
David Gray was little known before his breakthrough album White Ladder catapulted him into the music spotlight. His first two albums ‘A Century Ends’ and ‘Flesh’ were released in 1993 and 1994 respectively and failed to make any serious impact on the commercial sales.
These two albums did however establish Gray as a popular artist in folk-rock circles. When the release of his third album ‘Sell Sell Sell’ came about in 1996, it saw the singer move to a mature blend of folk, alternative rock and electronics. Despite the album being critically acclaimed, it failed to reach the charts but the foundations of David Gray's trademark sound had been formed.
With the music scene starting to familiarise itself with David Gray’s music, the singer, songwriter finally made his breakthrough in 2000 with the worldwide release of his fourth album ‘White Ladder’. What a breakthrough it was, with the album receiving both critical and commercial success and spawning four of Gray’s best-known songs, "This Year's Love", "Babylon", "Please Forgive Me" and "Sail Away".
In David Gray’s more recent career, the singer has announced that he is currently working on a new album entitled ‘Foundling’ which is set for release in the United States later this year on September 14th.
David Gray will play the following UK dates:
July 2010
5th O2 Academy, Liverpool
7th Corn Exchange, Cambridge
8th Brighton Dome
