OMD Announce Autumn UK Tour & Tickets

Synth-pop group Orchestral Manoeuvres in the Dark, often known as OMD, have released details of a forthcoming Autumn UK tour in support of their new album ‘History Of Modern’.

OMD are a synthesiser group who formed in 1978 through the coming together of two primary school friends Andy McCluskey and Paul Humphreys. Two years later the group had become a quartet with the addition of Malcolm Holmes and Martin Cooper completing the group until the departure of Humphreys, Holmes and Cooper in 1989.

With the trio departing to form The Listening Pool, founding member Andy McCluskey retained the OMD name and continued to make new music and tour with new line-ups through 1996.

Its been a complicated journey for OMD, as in 1996 McCluskey essentially retired the OMD name while shortly thereafter Paul Humphries began playing live shows as OMD with other musicians, although without McCluskey…Still following?

Late December 2005, the official website of OMD announced a reformation of the ‘classic’ 1980’s line-up, that’s Humphreys, McCluskey, Cooper and Holmes remember?

Shortly after it was planned that the four-piece were to start recording again as well as play live performances and OMD hit the road to begin touring in 2007 with further successful sold-out tours in 2008 and 2009.

Now the guys return and whilst putting the finishing touches to their new studio album ‘History Of Modern’, the details of a new UK tour to support the new album release have emerged.

OMD will play the following UK dates:

October 2010

29th Brighton Dome
31st Colston Hall, Bristol

November 2010

2nd Glasgow Concert Hall
4th Liverpool Arena
