Irish three-piece instrumental band God Is An Astronaut have announced a UK tour for November this year.
Hailing from the Glen of the Down, Co Wicklow, Ireland, God Is An Astronaut formed in 2002 and immediately went on to release their debut album ‘The End Of The Beginning’ from their own label Revive Records. Their unusual band name is inspired by a famous quote from the movie ‘Nightbreed’.
The band’s live performances are somewhat unusual too. Making use of huge video screens and impressive lighting arranegements the band project self-edited videos to form what the band calls a “full audio visual show”. Each song being accompanied by its own video.
In late 2008, the band started work on a new EP. However, later they announced that instead of an EP release, an entire new album should be expected with the production of ‘Age Of The Fifth Sun’, the band’s fifth which was released on 17th May.
The band hit the road for a short five-date tour in November later this year to promote the new record, calling at venues in Manchester, Glasgow, Leeds and Birmingham before a final show at London’s Islington Academy.
God Is An Astronaut will play the following UK dates:
November 2010
8th Ruby Lounge, Manchester
9th King Tuts Wah Wah Hut, Glasgow
10th The Cockpit, Leeds
11th O2 Academy2, Birmingham
12th O2 Academy, Islington, London
Tickets are on sale from 9am on Monday 24th May, priced from £10.00.
