In a recent US newspaper interview, ex-Oasis frontman Liam Gallagher has claimed that last year’s Oasis split was the “best thing that’s ever happened”.
Splitting in August last year, the Gallagher brother’s final row blew Oasis apart for the last time. Now, with both Liam and Noel taking separate roads to the future of their musical careers, the brothers appear to be coping well without each other.
Noel Gallagher has to date played two successful sold-out shows at London’s historic Royal Albert Hall, while Liam Gallagher has been hard at work in the studio, recording new material with his new group Beady Eye.
As well as his new band, Liam has always been concentrating on his clothing label Pretty Green. Recently launching the line stateside, the singer spoke to American newspaper New York Times claiming that he has been able to start afresh, rejuvenated and raring to go since the break-up of Oasis.
"In hindsight it was the best thing that’s ever happened, because we're free to do whatever we want," said the singer. When asked about his brother Noel, the singer revealed that he had not spoken with Noel since the break-up last August.
Away from the music, Liam has joined up with Paul Weller to work on a special range of Pretty Green clothing. During his interview with the New York Times the singer claimed that modern Britain was lacking in sartorial sense.
"Not a lot of people look cool these days, like my cool" he said. "Everybody plays it down, don’t they? I don't want just anybody wearing it," said the singer. "And people go, 'Oh, beggars can't be choosers.' Well, I ain't a beggar, you know what I mean?"
The singles from Oasis will ‘live forever’ with a new best-of album, entitled ‘Time Flies’, being released later this month.
