Rodrigo y Gabriela have confirmed two new academy shows either side of their Glastonbury and T in the Park festival appearances.
The Mexican duo have developed an extraordinary way of performing and playing together which has earned them worldwide status and kudos from the likes of Metallica and Barack Obama!
Just last month they played at the White House - drawing on material from their new album "11:11" and their previous self-titled long player, they rocked 1600 Pennsylvania Avenue in their own inimitable fashion. The intimate black tie gathering of around 200 guests was a dramatic contrast with Rod & Gab's recent sell out Radio City Music Hall gig to 6,000 raucous punters in NYC, which saw Robert Trujillo from Metallica guest.
They will be rocking the O2 Academies following their headline slot on Glastonbury's West Holts Stage and prior to their appearances at T In The Park and Latitude Festivals.
Rodrigo y Gabriela's latest studio album '11:11', is their personal tribute to eleven musicians or bands who have inspired them along their musical journey, ranging from household names like Pink Floyd and Jimi Hendrix to personal favourites such as Le Trio Joubran and Michel Camilo. The album was produced by Rodrigo (with co-production by John Leckie on one track) and mixed by Colin Richardson (Slipknot, Trivium).
Global sales for the duo's record releases to date have just topped one million albums worldwide, a remarkable achievement.
Rodrigo y Gabriela's upcoming UK live dates are:
27th June - Glastonbury (West Holts stage)
29th June - Liverpool O2 Academy
30th June - Leeds O2 Academy
10th July - T In The Park (King Tuts Wah Wah Tent)
18th July - Latitude Festival, Suffolk
2nd - 7th November - Shepherds Bush Empire (Five Night Residency)
Tickets for the two new Academy shows are onsale now, priced from £17.50.
