Instrumental post-rock Canadians known as Godspeed You! Black Emperor are rumbling back to life after years of silence with a UK winter tour being confirmed for December later this year.
Band reunions are happening left, right and centre at the moment. They’re a good thing though, they bring fans together and they unite people towards bands that were perhaps long tired out or lost in the ever-changing music trends.
Smashing Pumpkins reunited, Britpop legends Blur played some stunning reunion shows last year, now brooding, cryptic instrumentalists Godspeed You! Black Emperor are calling their hiatus to an end with the announcement of a series of reunion dates.
Creating prolonged tracks that either raise your spirits or fill you with creeping dread, the Canadian group craft their songs with the help of wide ranging volumes of booming guitars, strings and drums to create a powerful sound.
Reuniting in April, Godspeed You! Black Emperor have now scheduled a four-date UK tour which will mark the band’s first headlining shows in ten years. Hitting the road between December 7th and December 13th the news of the short tour will make fans excited for what’s more to come from the band.
As well as the announced tour, Godspeed You! Black Emperor is to curate ATP’s Nightmare Before Christmas festival that takes place over the weekend of December 3rd-5th. The festival is to include the likes of ‘Weird Al’ Yankovic, Deerhoof, Scout Niblett and White Magic.
Godspeed You! Black Emperor will play the following UK dates:
December 2010
7th Manchester University, Manchester
8th Barrowland, Glasgow
12th Anson Rooms, Bristol
13th Troxy East, London
