Johnny Depp Launches Record Label

Johnny Depp, the man who dropped school for a life of rock ’n’ roll and then errr…acting, has begun preparations to launch his very own record label.

The Pirates of the Caribbean star has already tried his luck in the music-making business having left school to follow his passion of playing guitar. Having played in several rock groups prior to his acting career, the superstar has played guitar on the 1997 Oasis track Fade In-Out and also played on the soundtrack to his 2003 film ‘Once Upon a Time in Mexico’.

Depp also recently put down the money for studio time required by British band Babybird, who had a massive hit with ‘You’re Gorgeous’ nearly 14 years ago. Depp, who funded the group’s studio time to record their latest album ‘Ex-Maniac’, has helped with the Sheffield group’s return to the limelight by also featuring on the track ‘Unloveable’ as well as directing it's music video.

Now the Hollywood star is scouting for new talent in the UK having founded Unison Music. An insider told The Sun newspaper, "Johnny has always been passionate about music. He's taking a really hands-on approach to signing acts. Obviously he can't get to as many gigs as he would like but he's got a good team around him and will personally vet any signings that they make."

In other news about Depp, it was recently reported that the actor was to play Ozzy Osbourne in a biopic about the Black Sabbath icon. However Ozzy has said that he would rather a British actor got the role.
