Reading Festival Introduces Restrictions On Alcohol and Campfires

Those with tickets for The Reading Festival weekend bash might be in for a bit of a shock with the announcement that organisers are limiting the amount of alcohol that campers can bring with them as well as banning campfires after 8pm.
Reports from Virtual Festivals reveal that the new rules have been brought in to try and avoid last year’s havoc caused by anti-social behaviour, which resulted in vandalism across the festival’s site.
Following a report from Reading Borough Council, the decision to ban booze and fires was based on the conclusion that “"as groups grew in numbers they began moving around the site committing crime and acting in a disorderly and antisocial manner."
The report continued to reveal more incidents. "Numerous fires were started, telegraph poles carrying onsite lighting were tampered with, sections of fencing were ripped up and hedgerows, tents, rubbish and combustibles were set alight."
It’s a total shame that a minority have to spoil festivities for most of the revelers who are there for a good time. With the new limit on alcohol and the new no-fires-after-8pm rule, the amount of restrictions at the festival now totals up to three with organisers previously banning flags from the concert arena too.
The Reading Festival takes place over the weekend of 27th – 29th August. Headliners include Arcade Fire, Guns ‘N’ Roses and Blink-182.
