Dar Williams, real name Dorothy Snowden Williams, is an American folk pop singer, songwriter and musician, from Mount Kisco, New York.
Starting her music career in 1990, she moved to Boston, and started performing in coffeehouses, and taking voice lessons with Jeannie Deva. She released her debut album, ‘I Have No History’, that year, and followed with ‘All My Heroes Are Dead’, a year later. Her third album, ‘The Honesty Room’, was released in 1993, and opened for Joan Baez, who championed the singer. ‘Mortal City’, came out in 1996, ‘End of The Summer’ in 1997, ‘The Green World’, in 2000, ‘The Beauty of the Rain’, in 2003, ‘My Better Self’, in 2005, ‘Promised Land’, in 2008, ‘Many Great Companions’, in 2010 and ‘In the Time of Gods’, in 2012. Her latest album, ‘Emerald’, was released in 2015. Dar Williams has announced shows in Glasgow, London and Bristol in late May, early June.
