La Cage Aux Folles is a musical based on the 1973 French play of the same name. The story revolves around a gay couple, one of whom manages a Saint-Tropez nightclub that hosts drag acts, and the other who performs as the star attraction there. The fun really starts when their world collides with that of an extremely conservative politician.
In the early 2000s, it won the Tony Award for Best Revival of a Musical (twice!) and the Olivier Award for Best Musical Revival. The story of La Cage Aux Folles was also made into the 1998 Hollywood film The Birdcage.
