Lee Ranaldo is an American singer-songwriter and musician based in New York. Born in 1956, he is best known for his part in founding Sonic Youth alongside Thurston Moore and Kim Gordon, but has had a long career as a solo artist too, releasing his first solo record, 'From Here to Infinity', in 1987.
One of rock's great guitarists, Ranaldo has marched on with his own music well on from Sonic Youth's disbandment in 2011, putting out ninth album, 'Between the Times and the Tides', in 2012, and following it up with two more alongside his backing band The Dust: 'Last Night on Earth' and 'Acoustic Dust'. In September 2017, Ranaldo returned with yet another LP, entitled 'Electric Trim'. He's also been busy with a feature length documentary, 'Hello Hello Hello', which premiered at Hackney Picture House in November 2017 for the Doc ’n Roll Film Festival. The documentary, by filmmakers Fred Riedel and Jerry Fried, tracks the making of 'Electric Trim', out now on Mute. Lee Ranaldo will support the new album with US dates across June 2018, but until then, he'll hit London for one date as part of a huge European tour in February.
