Michael McDonald is an American singer, songwriter, keyboardist and record producer. McDonald's music career spans over forty years - his early career included singing with Steely Dan, before he joined the Doobie Brothers in 1976, remaining an integral member until 1982, after which he released the first of a number solo albums, 'If That's What It Takes', in 1982.
His latest, 2017's 'Wide Open' was his first release in nine years, and showcases his first original material in 17 years. The album finds him collaborating with a number of special guests including saxophonist Branford Marsalis, guitarist-singer Warren Haynes (Allman Brothers Band, Gov't Mule), guitarist Robben Ford, bassist Marcus Miller, Amy Holland and David Paich, to name just a few. During his career, he has collaborated with a number of other artists, including Kenny Loggins, David Cassidy, Van Halen, Patti LaBelle, The Winans, Aretha Franklin, Toto, Grizzly Bear, and Thundercat. He has also recorded for television and film soundtracks. During his career, McDonald has won five Grammy Awards. He often tours extensively as a solo artist in the US, and in 2017, played a handful of rare UK shows. He'll hit the road again in summer 2019 for a co-headline North American tour with Chaka Khan.
