Peter Murphy is an British singer and musician from Northampton, Northamptonshire, best known as the vocalist for Bauhaus.
Formed in 1978, Bauhaus released their debut album, ‘In the Flat Field’, in 1980, followed by ‘Mask’ in 1981, ‘The Sky's Gone Out’ in 1982, and ‘Burning from the Inside’ in 1983, before the band split that year. Murphy then went on to form Dalis Car with Mick Karn and Paul Vincent Lawford. They released the album, ‘The Waking Hour’, in 1984. He then embarked on a solo career, releasing ‘Should the World Fail to Fall Apart’, in 1986. This was followed by his most successful albums ‘Love Hysteria’ in 1988 and ‘Deep’ in 1989. ‘Holy Smoke’ came out in 1992, followed by ‘Cascade’ in 1995, ‘Dust’ in 2002, ‘Unshattered’ in 2004, ‘Ninth’ in 2011, and ‘Lion’ in 2014. Peter Murphy celebrates 40 years of Bauhaus with new UK and European shows in December, as part of a world tour. He'll be joined by his former Bauhaus bandmate, David J.
