Ronnie Spector is an American R&B and pop singer from New York, best known as the lead singer of the Ronettes in the 1960s.
Starting her career in 1959, the Ronettes initially signed to Colpix Records and released a few singles, before signing to Phil Spector’s Philles Records. They became known for songs such as Be My Baby, Baby, I Love You, The Best Part of Breakin' Up, Do I Love You?, Walking In The Rain, Born To Be Together and Is This What I Get For Loving You?, before splitting in 1967. The singer married Phil Spector in 1968, but they separated in 1974. The Ronettes briefly reformed in the mid-1970s as Ronnie Spector and the Ronettes, with two new members, before Spector went on to release her debut solo album, ‘Sirens’, in 1980. She's released another four records, as well as the critically acclaimed ‘She Talks to Rainbows’ EP in 1999, and was inducted into the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame, as part of the Ronettes, in 2007. She released her latest album, ‘English Heart’, in 2016. Ronnie Spector will play Christmas shows with the Ronettes in the UK and Ireland in December 2019.
