Sharon Jones & The Dap Kings are an American funk and soul group from Brooklyn, New York, fronted by singer Sharon Jones, alongside a changing lineup of musicians.
Formed in 1996, the band signed to Daptone Recordings and released their debut album, ‘Dap Dippin' with Sharon Jones and the Dap-Kings’ in 2002, followed by ‘Naturally’ in 2005, ‘100 Days, 100 Nights’ in 2007, ‘I Learned the Hard Way’ in 2010, ‘Give the People What They Want’ in 2014 and their latest ‘It's a Holiday Soul Party’ in 2015. Amazing woman with fab backing band
Leeds University on November 30 -0001
First saw Sharon and the Dapkings at Leeds university, which inspired us to follow her all over including the Beacon theatre New York and various festivals around the world. She has such an amazing voice, I would recommend anyone interested in music to see this fab lady in their lifetime. If they don't they will be missing out on a lady that should have been as famous as Tina Turner, with a much better voice. Love you Sharon xxxxxx
