Shrewsbury Town Football Club are based in Shrewsbury, Shropshire, England. They were formed in 1886 following the demise of first Shropshire Wanderers and later indirectly after Castle Blues.

The club plays its home games at the New Meadow, also known as Montgomery Waters Meadow for sponsorship purposes, having moved from the Gay Meadow in 2007.

They are nicknamed Salop, meaning 'from Shropshire', the county in which Shrewsbury is based. Their rivals include Hereford United, Walsall, Wrexham, Wolverhampton Wanderers, and Port Vale.
