The Skids are a Scottish punk rock and new wave rock band from Dunfermline, Fife, currently consisting of former members Richard Jobson, Bill Simpson and Mike Baillie, plus Big Country guitarists Bruce and Jamie Watson.
Formed in 1977, the band released their debut album, ‘Scared to Dance’, in 1979, which hit #19 in the UK Albums Chart. ‘Days in Europa’ followed in 1979, but it was the band’s third album, ‘The Absolute Game’, which provided the band with their biggest hit, reaching #9 in the chart. The band’s final album, ‘Joy’, was released in 1981, before the band split. They reformed for shows in 2007 for their 30th anniversary. Skids played 40th anniversary shows in 2017 through to 2018, and now in 2019 have summer UK shows planned.
