Sonata Arctica are a Finnish power metal band from Kemi, consisting of Tony Kakko, Elias Viljanen, Tommy Portimo, Henrik Klingenberg and Pasi Kauppinen.
Formed in 1995, under the name Tricky Beans and then later Tricky Means, they changed their name to Sonata Arctica in 1999, releasing their debut album ‘Ecliptica’ the same year. The band have released nine albums across their career including ‘Winterheart's Guild’ in 2003, ‘Unia’ in 2003 and ‘Stones Grow Her Name’ in 2012. The band released their latest album, ‘The Ninth Hour’ in October 2016 via Nuclear Blast. The band have headlined their own shows and tours across Europe, including the UK, as well as the USA. Sonata Arctica are set to tour North America in winter 2016, supporting their new album, 'Ninth Hour', as well as a UK tour for March 2017.
