Stephen Fry is an actor, broadcaster, comedian and writer from London.
First rising to fame as one half of the comedy double act Fry & Laurie, alongside Hugh Laurie, he quickly made a name for himself as both a comedian and actor in more serious roles, including—notably—his Golden Globe-nominated performance as Oscar Wilde in the film Wilde, and parts in The Hobbit series, The Hitchhiker's Guide To The Galaxy, Sherlock Holmes: A Game of Shadows and Tim Burton's Alice In Wonderland. Now having achieved National Treasure status, he has received eleven BAFTA nominations—eight for which are for hosting the quiz show QI—two Tony Awards for his stage work, as well as having penned countless fiction and non-fiction books and plays. Stephen Fry and Richard Dawkins will take over London's Royal Geographical Society in December 2024 for A Very Merry Hitchmas. Fry also has shows in Australia lined up for October and November.
