Tanita Tikaram is a British folk pop singer from Münster, West Germany.
Starting her music career in 1988, she signed to WEA and released her debut album, ‘Ancient Heart’, which hit #3 in the UK Albums Chart, and contained the hits Good Tradition and Twist In My Sobriety. She released her second album, ‘The Sweet Keeper’, in 1990, which achieved the same chart position, with 1991’s ‘Everybody's Angel’ reaching #19. ‘Eleven Kinds of Loneliness’ came out in 1992, followed ‘Lovers in the City’ in 1995 and released ‘The Cappuccino Songs’ in 1998. She took a break from the industry, returning in 2005 with ‘Sentimental’ and in 2012 with ‘Can't Go Back’. Her ninth album, ‘Closer to the People’, was released in March 2016.
