Television are an American punk rock band hailing from New York, consisting of Tom Verlaine, Billy Ficca, Fred Smith, and Jimmy Rip.
Formed in 1973, they are one of American punk’s seminal outfits. They secured a place in music history with their debut record, 'Marquee Moon', in 1977. Their initial run was short-lived and after releasing, 'Adventure', in 1978, the band split, amid drug problems and artistic differences. In 1992, however, they reformed and knocked-out their self-titled third album, and have toured sporadically since. Television have announced four UK dates in June.
