The Cardigans are a Swedish rock band formed in Jönköping, Sweden, in 1992 by guitarist Peter Svensson, bassist Magnus Sveningsson, drummer Bengt Lagerberg, keyboardist Lars-Olof Johansson and lead singer Nina Persson, with the line-up remaining unchanged to this day.
Their debut album 'Emmerdale' came in 1994, which enjoyed success in their home country and even as far as Japan, but it was their sophomore, 1995's 'Life', that gained them international success. 'First Band on the Moon' followed in 1996, and 'Gran Turismo' in 1998. After a hiatus, the band returned recording and releasing their fifth album 'Long Gone Before Daylight' in 2003 and 'Super Extra Gravity' in 2005!. The Cardigans will celebrate the 20th anniversary of their fourth album, 'Gran Turismo', by playing it in full on a UK tour at the end of the year.
