The Longest Johns are an acapella folk band from Bristol.
Formed in 2012, the band released two EPs and three albums before shooting to international fame in 2019, when their sea shanty video went viral. They uploaded a video of themselves singing Wellerman to YouTube, which eventually found its way onto TikTok, where it was covered by Nathan Evans and subsequently became a TikTok trend and worldwide phenomenon. Not only did this create a huge surge in popularity for the band, but it also ignited an interest in sea shanties in general. Since then, the band have put out several more albums, with the most recent being 2024's 'Voyage'.
