The Rapture are a rock band from New York City who formed in 1998. The band currently consists of Luke Jenner, Vito Roccoforte, and Gabriel Andruzzi, with the former classic lineup adding Mattie Safer playing bass and sharing lead vocal duties with Jenner until 2009.
The band mix influences from many genres including dance-punk, post-punk, acid house, disco, and electronica. They were forerunners of the post-punk revival during the early 2000s, as they mixed their early post-punk sound with electronic and dance elements for their trio of full length albums, in addition to various EPs over the years. The group split in 2014 and reunited again in 2019 to play some shows across North America. The Rapture have now confirmed a short run of UK and Ireland headline gigs in July 2020.
