Watain are a Swedish black metal band from Uppsala, featuring frontman Erik Danielsson, drummer Håkan Jonsson, and guitarist Pelle Forsberg. They are best known for their controversial live shows which have featured Satanic rituals, animal carcasses and blood.
Formed in 1998, the band released their debut album, 'Rabid Death's Curse' in 2000, followed by ‘Casus Luciferi’, in 2003, ‘Sworn to the Dark’, in 2007 and ‘Lawless Darkness’, in 2010. Their last album, ‘The Wild Hunt’, released in 2013, reached the top spot in the Swedish chart. The band have now signed to Century Media, who put out their new album, 'Trident Wolf Eclipse', in January 2018. Watain returned to the UK with a show at London’s Tufnell Park Dome in January supporting the new record, and have now confirmed the The Trident's Curse Tour of Europe - with Rotting Christ and Profanatica supporting - for November. 2019 will see them heading to Australia and New Zealand too.
