Kasabian To Debut New Material At Intimate UK Shows

Frontman of Leicester indie-rock giants Kasabian, Tom Meighan, has revealed that the band will embark on an intimate UK tour this spring, previewing new material.

Revealing to NME that the band will look to play mid-sized venues, Meighan explained. "We're going to go back on the road in April or May, and we're going to be doing the small shows again – 1,000, 2,000 people a night.”

Kasabian return to the recording studio next month to start recording their fourth album and follow-up to 2009's hugely succesful 'West Ryder Pauper Lunatic Asylum'. Meighan explained that by the time the gigs are arranged, the band will be ready to showcase some new material to the fans.

"I think we'll play two or three new songs," he said. "Serge (Pizzorno, Kasabian's guitarist and lead-songwriter) has written a song we can end on now apart from 'LSF' too. Maybe that's just me putting my balls on the table, but I hope we can do that."

Kasabian have previously hinted that the new album is to have an “old school grunge” sound. Revealing more about the new album Meighan said. "There's one song that sounds like Nirvana, which is really grungy, a big riff. It's nothing like what we've done on this record, it's really old school grunge. There's also a lot of Pink Floyd, 'Dark Side Of The Moon', piano-based songs at the minute."

Meanwhile, Kasabian have been nominated for Best British Band and Best Live Band in the Shockwaves NME Awards 2011. Meighan was “gobsmacked” to learn of the nominations, saying it is “a f*cking honour”.
