Dance production duo Los Chicharrons are ready to release their fourth studio album, in celebration of Tummy Touch Recording’s 15th birthday.
The original musical odd couple, consisting of Ramon Santana and Morten Hansen, were one of the Tummy Touch’s first signings when they started back in 1996, and have now finished recording a new LP entitled ‘Roots of Life’.
The idea of ‘Roots of Life’ came to them when Morten travelled to Bamako in Mali. Mali might be one of the poorest countries in the world but it is rich with music and a great philosophy of life. They hooked up with local musicians and recorded some songs in Mali and in Paris with finishing touches applied in Copenhagen and London. The truly international culture clash which is ‘Roots of Life’, with its blend of Bass Music, Afro Funk and House, will be filling dance floors around the globe in 2011.
A clash of cultures isn’t something new to Los Chicharrons - with Ramon hailing from the Dominican Republic, then moving to Brooklyn, and Morten from Copenhagen, Denmark, there was always going to be a fresh mixture of sounds from across the map.
