Jon Fratelli has released a series of videos in which he speaks about songs from his forthcoming debut solo album ‘Psycho Jukebox’. In one of the interviews, the former Fratellis frontman premieres new album track ‘Daddy Won’t Pay Your Bills’ and discusses his reasons for choosing to make a solo album. The other videos show Fratelli speaking about and performing his recent single ‘Santo Domingo’ and the forthcoming single ‘Baby, We’re Refugees!’ – watch all three below.
‘Psycho Jukebox’ is due for release on 11th July and is Fratelli’s first album since his debut with Codeine Velvet Club in 2009. The release of ‘Psycho Jukebox’ will coincide with the single ‘Baby, We’re Refugees!’ on the same day. Fratelli will be performing at a number of festivals over the coming months, including T In The Park, Intro Festival in Middlesbrough, London’s Godiva Festival and Prestonpans Music Festival in Scotland.
Jon parted ways with The Fratellis in 2009 following the release of the band’s second album ‘Here We Stand’. Although his recent touring line-up has included former bandmate Mince Fratelli on drums, Jon recently told Stereoboard that a full reunion is unlikely: “Having made a record that’s by far the best thing I’ve ever been involved in, if I was to go back to that band, there would be a whole year’s worth of songs that I wouldn’t be able to play. I find that almost impossible to even contemplate. I’m a great believer in that life has to keep on moving and that everything has its particular time. We were in that band for four or five years together and that seems like enough to me.”
