Soul singer Adele has decided to continue her tour today, starting with tonight’s performance in Leicester’s De Montfort Hall.
The ‘Someone like You’ singer had been forced to cancel gigs in Cardiff, Plymouth, Bournemouth Blackpool and Wolverhampton after she came down with an illness which restricted her voice. She told fans of the cancellations through her blog and profusely apologised to for postponing the gigs.
She is apparently back to full fitness, however, and has decided to return to the tour after a week off by making a performance in Leicester tonight. All cancelled shows will be postponed to a later date.
The original apology said: "I’m still not well enough. I woke up feeling a bit better but not by a lot, but decided to head towards Cardiff anyway in the hope id be able to sing tonight. Half way there I realised it was unrealistic and so have come back home to rest.
“I apologise profusely, I know many of you would have travelled to Cardiff today for the show. I’m so so sorry! I need to wait until the infection has cleared up, there’s no use battling through it because it’ll only make me weaker. I’m still breathless and my chest is disgusting.
“Believe me I’m doing everything I can to get better ASAP I promise. It’s a bug and I have to wait till it’s gone. I’m not doing half hearted performances for anyone. if I try do a show like this it’ll be rubbish and I won’t be coming back this year and I don’t want leave you like that.
“If I postpone ill come back very soon when I’m well and do it how I normally do it! Please forgive me, I hate cancelling things as you know. This has nothing to do with my throat before. I’m sure lots of you feel like this as well, it’s going round. See you very soon Adele xx”
