Wisconsin rockers Garbage, who’ve sold over 17million records worldwide, have announced the release of a brand new album – their first for seven years.
Set to hit shelves on May 15th, ‘Not Your Kind of People’ will be the band’s fifth studio album, and there first since they entered hiatus in 2005. The group reformed back in February 2010, and had grown sick of greedy record labels - with singer Shirley Manson saying: “The corporate people [on our previous label] were bummed out because our last album didn’t go in at number one. Number four wasn't good enough. They just stripped us of all our joy and we ended up turning on each other a bit.”
To coincide with the new release, the band today also confirmed their return to the live scene, with a handful of new shows including a gig at London’s Troxy venue on May 9th. Their return also sees two shows in Russia and a gig in France, as well as a few festival appearances. More dates are expected to be announced - so check back to Stereoboard for further Garbage shows as and when they are revealed.
Speaking of the new dates, signer Shirley Manson said: “Thinking about going back on the road is both thrilling and terrifying in equal measure, but we've always enjoyed a little pain mixed in with our pleasure.”
