Scottish rockers Biffy Clyro have surprised fans this afternoon, announcing an intimate Download Festival warm-up show at Swindon's Oasis Leisure Centre for Friday 8th June.
Biffy Clyro, composed of Simon Neil and twin brothers James and Ben Johnston, recently unveiled the title of their forthcoming sixth album, a double LP, called 'The Land at the End of Our Toes' and 'The Sand at the Core of Our Bones'. The band have been working on the new record for a number of months now with 22 tracks ready to be split between the two recordings. The new album, slated for a summer release, will be Biffy's first release since 2009's 'Only Revolutions'.
Biffy Clyro drummer Ben Johnston spoke of the album's concept, and told NME: “We don't want to pigeon hole it as a 'big rock album', so we're trying to make a diverse collection of songs.”
The band are itching to play the new material and are set to debut some of the fresh tracks at their festival appearances this summer – which includes a slot at Download Festival, the Isle of Wight Festival and RockNess.
