Following a plethora of positive reviews for their new album ‘Cheeky For A Reason’ (check out Stereoboard's review here) which powered into the charts at Number 9, The View continue their resurgence with the August 27th release of their new single ‘The Clock’ on Cooking Vinyl.
Produced by Mike Crossey (Arctic Monkeys, Foals), ‘The Clock’ is a gritty, yearning ballad infused with emotion that neatly encapsulates the band’s mission statement of creating an album akin to “Fleetwood Mac’s ‘Rumours’ done by The Clash.” ‘The Clock’ was written by vocalist/guitarist Kyle Falconer, bassist Kieren Webster and Angelo Petraglia, the unofficial fifth member of Kings Of Leon.
‘Cheeky For A Reason’ is the band’s fourth after the Mercury-nominated Number 1 debut ‘Hats Off To The Buskers’, the Top 10 follow-up ‘Which Bitch’ and 2011’s Top 20 ‘Bread & Circuses’. The band’s most freely eclectic work to date, the album flows from the Celtic-influenced melodic rush of ‘How Long’ through the pounding punk of ‘AB (We Need Treatment)’ to the 70s-styled hybrid of piano pop and rich vocal harmonies that define the closing track ‘Tacky Tattoo’.
Recent weeks have also seen The View earning fresh praise for their live shows from publications as varied as NME, the Daily Star and The Daily Record after a number of intimate shows and two chaotic sets at Rockness. They will continue to tour the UK and Ireland until early September with select headline shows and major festival dates including Reading, Leeds and BT London Live in Hyde Park. They will then embark upon a tour of mainland Europe which will be confirmed shortly.
