In a spectacular, and early, first announcement, annual Leeds metal event Damnation Festival has announced its headliner for the 2013 edition of the event. The legendary Carcass, who headlined the festival for the first time back in 2008, will return for their first UK performance in support of their new, as yet unreleased, album.
Promising a set that will feature both the die-hard classics of their catalogue and brand new material, guitarist Bill Steer says the band are “very excited about the prospect of returning to Damnation Festival this year”. Their set in 2008 saw the festival register a complete sell-out and excitement about the return of the death/grind pioneers will no doubt already be high amongst the UK’s metal fans. Festival organiser Gavin McInally said that “it’s another coup having (Carcass) return following the release of their first new album in seventeen years”. He also has stressed that Damnation’s work to put on a great day is far from complete, with another twenty-two acts set to join the line-up.
Certainly, with the line-up set to contain another diverse set of superb artists, Damnation 2013 should be another fantastic event, so put the 2nd November in your diaries now...
Tickets for Damnation Festival 2013 are on sale now, currently at last year’s price of £32. Damnation Festival will take place on 2nd November 2013 at Leeds University Students Union.
