Creamfields Spend £500,000 On Site Improvements Following 2012 Downpours

Thursday, 28 February 2013 Written by Adam Holden

After the abysmal and sheer dire conditions that forced the cancellation of the final day of Creamfields 2012, the organisers have dug deep and spent £500,000 on site improvements.

Aimed at assuring the loyal revellers that the festival is in the best possible hands, half a million pounds has been spent on improving key areas of the site, including the field drainage systems; investment into additional trackways and a series of new bridges.

The Daresbury site in Cheshire suffered from severe downpours in 2011, rendering the undulating landscape in chaos. And when you thought things couldn’t get any worse, in 2012, biblical like storms devastatingly ruined the festival, causing the stages to sink, rivers to overflow, evidently making police forces and multiple festival agencies to cancel Creamfields prematurely.

However this year organisers Cream have spent big and teamed up with Live Nation, a very experienced and knowledgeable event promoter, running the likes of Download, Wireless, Hard Rock Calling and other major music events around the world.

With an influx of capital, the festival itself should now provide greater security and safety, a revised contingency plan, new PA and information screens, in addition to other site improvements.

The site itself will have a new 2,500m drainage system that has been installed by specialists and over 1,500m of new walkways and new bridges.

And in celebrating its 15th anniversary, the festival has brought back the legendary Prodigy to lure in the aficionados, along with the likes of Tiesto, Above and Beyond and two thirds of the Swedish House Mafia – although they will be playing separately.

So with what looks an incredible line-up, Creamfields has again showed their hand, and its a royal flush in the world of electronic music.

Head over to Creamfield's official Facebook Page for further details, as well as the full line-up and stage splits.
