Seba Releases Long-Awaited Album 'Identity' Today

Drum and bass veteran Seba is one of those producers who tends to be universally loved and consistently brilliant - I doubt you’ll find anyone who can honestly say they don’t appreciate his music, and there’s low chances you’ll see anyone slating one of his tunes anytime soon either.

ImageThe Swede’s latest album - the much talked about ‘Identity’, the first LP release on his own label Secret Operations - is a continuation of that trend (or at least it is for me!), and is full of tracks oozing with that crisp, melodic Seba mojo that he slaps into each release.

Opening with sweet liquid roller ‘Can’t Describe’ - which is full of soaring synths, a pulsing bassline and expertly tweaked percussion - the album takes you on a proper journey that acquaints you with Seba’s true style, his meaning, his ‘Identity’.

The 10-track record bounces from one spectrum of drum and bass to another, from the deep, bass heavy title track to the anthemic vocal track in ‘Madness’, from the guitar-driven ‘Too Much Too Soon’, to the moodier ‘Say You Love Me’.

This eclecticism showcases Seba’s ability to produce many styles with not just ease, but with excellence, something also highlighted by the album’s non-dnb tracks; ‘Could This Be Love’, and ‘Midas’.

Though I’m someone who tends to avoid much dance music below 170bpm, it’s still hard to not understand and enjoy the album in it’s entirety - and those two tracks are a nod to the genres that influence him, such as house and techno.

There’s a reason so many people have been patiently waiting for it’s release today - especially following the unveiling of the album’s sampler in December - it’s one of those albums that all can enjoy, and one that will most likely turn a few non-believers onto drum and bass itself.
