Utopia Music are one of our favourite labels here at Stereoboard, and it appears that Ukraine are about to become one of our favourite countries - as two of it’s hottest talents have lined-up a wicked new single that’s dropping later this month.
Sunchase and Detail, two new additions to Mako’s roster at Utopia, come with two tracks of differing variety but equal sickness. Out May 20th, both have been creating a storm in the scene; Sunchase’s ‘Nathnennia’ has been turning heads with it’s stunning beauty, while Detail’s ‘Green Rain’ has been giving dark, minimal dnb lovers hard-ons for months.
The A-side, ‘Nathnennia’, is an expertly crafted piece of music, something we’ve come to expect from the one like Sunchase. Half-time, melodic, and soothing (with a touch of melancholia), the Kiev man has worked wonders in the studio with this one - though you probably won’t hear it in a rave, it wouldn’t go amiss when you’re coming down afterwards.
You may remember ‘Green Rain’ from Utopia boss Mako’s mix for Stereoboard in October last year. He wouldn’t supply us with a tracklist for all the dubs and secrets inside, so you can imagine the smile on my face when this landed in the inbox - I’d finally found the opening track to that hench mix, and I’ve been rinsing it ever since.
My favourite of the two, it starts with an eery intro and builds into an absolutely evil halftime steppa with sub zero bass and harsh, rolling amen breaks. I can only imagine Detail sitting in his kitchen like a deranged chef cutting and preparing those breaks and those neuro clicks - and he’s made it using the same recipe he did with ‘Outrage’, out now on Hospital.
As mentioned, these are two brilliant tracks on a different vibe, but on the same level. But don’t take our word for it - check out the previews below. If you like it, you can pre-order it here!
