Faces drummer Kenney Jones has confirmed the band are in the ‘early stages’ of reunion talks.
Last month, the band's keyboard player, Ian McLagan, appeared to dismiss any chances of a reunion following earlier statements from Rod Stewart that talks had begun. "It’s interesting that Rod announces these things without talking to me or Kenney," he said. "Why would we fuck around with the Faces when we’ve got bigger fish to fry?"
Now, Jones appears to have set the record straight, insisting that McLagan's outburst was the result of poor communication and nothing else. He told Billboard:
“We've been talking; Woody's [guitarist Ronnie Wood] management and myself, we were talking to Rod's management. Mac didn't realize we were talking because it was in its early stages. But he understands fully now. [Stewart] probably presumed everyone knew we were doing it, so there was nothing intentional.”
Jones continued:
"Would be lovely to do, we've been talking about it long enough. You've got to start talking about it about a year ahead of you're going to do something. The Faces never finished on a good note, so it would be nice to finish on a good note, and that would be that.”
