Gloucestershire’s multi-award-winning 2000trees Festival has announced its first wave of bands, just days after early bird tickets sold out in record time.
Ex-Reuben frontman Jamie Lenman has been confirmed to headline the Cave Stage on Saturday night to round off the festival, while the full line-up of returning bands has already been announced for the Thursday early entry night.
Headlining will be hip hop duo Dan le Sac vs. Scroobius Pip, and they will be joined by Gnarwolves, Johnny Foreigner, Ben Marwood, the Retrospective Soundtrack Players and Oxygen Thief(with full band). Tickets are now on general sale after early birds snapped up tickets at last year’s prices in just a few hours last week.
2000trees organiser James Scarlett said this year’s festival will have the best line-up yet and he was personally looking forward to the arrival of Lenman.
“Jamie was described as ‘a proper actual genius’ by Front and his new album is a superb return to form of seemingly bottomless creativity and a gut-wrenchingly heavy array of tunes.
“We have it on good authority that he will be playing Reuben songs, so to say we’re delighted at 2000trees is a massive understatement. Our very own ‘Camp Reuben’, which is made up of super fans who come to 2000trees each year, will be very happy indeed.”
The festival will be announcing a further 80 acts in coming weeks and is looking forward to returning for its eighth incarnation this summer. Scarlett added:
“I absolutely love the 2000trees Thursday night. It just somehow feels special, like you are part of a secret club of Trees fans. It’s the hard core. The Superfans! Not only do they get the best camping spots, but the atmosphere in the Cave is always electric – we’re all in it together."
Tickets – including the final 1,000 Thursday Early Entry passes – are available from the website. The festival takes place at Upcote Farm near Cheltenham from July 10 to July 12 2014. Visit the website for more information.
