Good Times In The Park Festival Cancelled Due To 'Unforeseen Technical Difficulties'

Thursday, 04 September 2014 Written by Huw Baines

Norman Jay MBE has been forced to pull the plug on Good Times In The Park.

The festival had been due to take over Wormwood Scrubs Park in west London on September 13 and 14, with Groove Armada, Chaka Khan, Goldie, LTJ Bukem, the Brand New Heavies and more lined up to join Jay on the bill.

But, due to "unforeseen technical difficulties", Good Times has been canned for 2014, with organisers promising to “work closely with the authorities” in order to ensure its return next year. In a statement, Jay wrote:

“To each and every one of our valued fans, stakeholders and supported charities, we at Good Times apologise unreservedly for any inconvenience caused by this unfortunate announcement.

“In the true spirit of Good Times, we poured our heart and soul into this festival in the hope of creating something special and unique that would bring our communities closer together whilst raising awareness and much needed funds for the charities close to our hearts.

“We are totally devastated by the turn of events which have lead to this cancellation and we would like to sincerely thank you all for your support and encouragement throughout our musical journey and ventures new.

“The Sun WILL shine on Good Times again in the future, of that I'm sure. And hopefully you will choose to be there with us to enjoy it.”

The festival is the latest in a short run of events to be cancelled, with Alt-Fest and Jabberwocky also being scratched from listings in recent weeks.
