The Wave Pictures Announce London And Ramsgate December Shows, Share New Single Pool Hall

The Wave Pictures will play shows in London and Ramsgate this December.
The London trio will call at XOYO on December 1 and Ramsgate Music Hall on December 2, following their previously announced UK tour, which runs between November 3 and 21. Tickets for the new dates are on sale now, with prices starting at £13.00.
The shows are in support of their new album, 'Bamboo Diner in the Rain', which is due to arrive November 11 via Moshi Moshi and follow up last year’s Billy Childish collaboration, 'Great Big Flamingo Burning Moon', and acoustic album 'A Season in Hull', which came out in February.
Meanwhile, discussing their new single, Pool Hall, which you can check out below, guitarist, vocalist and songwriter Dave Tattersall said:
"They really have closed down the pool hall in East London, where we used to play all night long, fuelled by Fosters and the cheese toasties they made behind the bar. Your past gets closed down bit by bit. What Pool Halls and cheese toasties does my future hold?
Of course, we live in a bankrupt culture, one that celebrates bongo pop morons and largely ignores the real thing. So we can’t really be surprised anymore when our pool halls get shut down. Everyone is staying home, interfacing with their machines.
This track slows down marginally in the last minute. Good. You won’t find a click-track at any of our recording sessions. I choose instead to think of this as a deepening of the groove, as occurs in the last minute of “Speedo” by The Cadillacs, the greatest record ever made. There were no robots to contend with in The Cadillacs’ days.
The verses here relate to Elvis as portrayed by Kurt Russell in John Carpenter’s made-for-TV masterpiece, “Elvis”. I feel fairly confident in saying that I’m the only person in the world who would have attempted this juxtaposition. Am I genius? It’s not for me to say. But yes, yes I am."
