The Charlatans To Play Scarborough Open Air Theatre In June

Monday, 05 December 2016 Written by Laura Johnson

The Charlatans will play Scarborough's Open Air Theatre next summer.

The indie quartet, who released 'Modern Nature' at the start of 2015, will headline the seaside venue on June 16, with tickets going on general sale at 9.00am on December 9. Vocalist Tim Burgess said:

"We have played some truly memorable gigs in Yorkshire down the years and we expect another unforgettable night in Scarborough next summer.

Yorkshire crowds have always been among our warmest and loudest supporters and we cannot wait to play for them again.”

The band will also support the Courteeners at Emirates Old Trafford on May 27 and have lined up a One Night Only show with James at Liverpool's Echo Arena on December 10. Tickets for both are on sale now.

Meanwhile, Burgess has been announced as the ambassador for next year's Independent Venue Week. Gigs will run between January 23 and January 29 in 120 venues across the UK, with the frontman kicking things off with a solo show at the Royal Albert Hall's Elgar Room on January 23. Support will come from Tear and Pheromoans. Head here for further details.
